Bio
Liad Twena, singer-songwriter and interior designer, was born in Israel, moved to Canada at the age of two. Growing up in a Canadian Zionist household, part of her strong sense of Jewish identity stemmed from studying at an associated Hebrew Day School and attending Hashomer Hatzair Summer Camp. Liad knows well the art and competition of Rikkudiyah and Zimriyah and its influence can be seen while she is on stage performing.
In BLANK (insert date), Liad auditioned to study music at the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music. Upon completion of the programme, Liad now has the talent, drive, and passion to continue to thrive and flourish in an industry and country where she calls home.
Since making Aliyah, she is living her dream as an artist and appreciates the closeness she can now have with her Ladino heritage. Her family extends nine generations in Jerusalem; some of whom established the water infrastructure from Jerusalem to the rest of the country. She is also a distant relative of Rabbi Ben Ezra; Liad and her husband look forward to continuing the legacy.
UJA has a large impact on her life and on their behalf, has performed for Walk for Israel, the Maccabiah Games, and sang the Israeli national anthem for the Israeli basketball team in Canada. Liad’s countless performances include services and Israeli Independence Day celebrations at synagogues and JCCs. While she works at an elite furniture design firm during the day, she ignites the night while performing at many festivals, events, and theaters across Israel. Liad’s repertoire includes singing in multiple languages: Spanish, Ladino, French, Hebrew, and English and looks forward to releasing an album showcasing her immeasurable ability soon.
